Contributing to Communication

Your Magazine Needs You!

Communication would not exist without contributions from club members. From a simple log of a radio station received recently to a complete article, all are welcome. This page contains information on the formats that we prefer for those contributions to the magazine and the methods by which you can send them to us. We have also produced some custom forms that you can print out directly from this website and use for sending your logs in. Please take a little time to read this page if you are thinking of sending something in and feel free to print a copy this article along with the forms as a reference.

How the Magazine is Compiled

The deadline for contributions is usually the LAST WEDNESDAY OF EACH MONTH (but sometimes it may be a week earlier). This is the last day that postal contributions can be accepted for forwarding to the Section Editors in time for the magazine's publication. E-mails may be accepted slightly later, up to midnight on the Friday after the published deadline - but please send earliler if possible.

The Section Editors compile their sections and e-mail the completed pages back to the General Editor over the weekend following the deadline. Communication is then put together and sent to the printers electronically first thing on Monday morning and circulated to pdf subscribers shortly afterwards. Printing is usually very quick and completed copies are usually ready to be posted to members within a couple of days.

Relevant and topical articles are generally included as space permits (at the editor's discretion), whereas loggings and QSLs are compiled by Section Editors who sort and order them so that they can be presented in the magazine in a cohesive way. This is a task that takes quite some time and effort and you can help to limit the editors' workloads by reading this article and presenting your contributions in the same format as they appear in Communication.
